How To Choose ED Supplements Which Actually Work

by | May 27, 2016 | Health & Medical

Male enhancement products seem to be everywhere, and you’ve probably noticed commercials for that little blue pill (or similar products). However, medication is different than supplements, and you may wonder if one is better than another or how to choose ED treatments that work.

Who?

Primarily, erectile dysfunction drugs (think that little blue pill) shouldn’t be taken by men unless they have long-term ED, which means those who have occasional erectile dysfunction may not be able to get or use the drugs effectively. However, they still want to have fun in the bedroom and may turn to supplements to help. Therefore, it’s important to note which options will work and what the repercussions may be.

Your Options

Currently, there are no ED supplements that are proven to work and be completely safe for your body. Therefore, if you choose to use any supplement listed, you should talk with your doctor and do so at your own risk. That being said, there are six primary alternatives to doctor-prescribed medications, including Ginkgo biloba, L-arginine, Saw Palmetto, DHEA, and Yohimbine. Another option, though not a supplement, is to consider acupuncture.

Ginkgo biloba could help improve blood flow, which could help with your erection. However, there isn’t much evidence that provides it enhances the flow of blood and could be risky if you have bleeding problems or take medications like warfarin.

L-arginine is required by the body to build protein, and since it is already needed for the body, it could be safe. However, the side effects of taking too much can lower blood pressure and cause allergic reactions in some people. It’s recommended to talk to your doctor first if you’re considering this option.

DHEA is a hormone found in the body to make testosterone, but it can cause side effects, and you should be under doctor supervision when using it.

At MES our clinic is devoted to the issue of erection difficulties. We make sure that any treatment we advise is based on your personal history and tailored to you so that it works.
